A remarkable collection of dolls house furniture, accessories and reference books will be offered by Lawrences Auctioneers in Crewkerne this autumn, providing a fascinating glimpse into the world of miniature collecting.
Built up over several decades by well-known Somerset collector Margaret Jean Rogers, the collection comprises a wonderful variety of 19th and 20th-century furniture and accessories, alongside an extensive selection of dolls’ house reference books.
Among the highlights is ‘Hamdon Hall’, a purpose-built four-storey dolls’ house made for Margaret by renowned dolls house maker Norman Harvey over a three-year period. The impressive house is fully fitted, including electricity, and was used to display many of her favourite pieces from the collection.
The collection will be offered across 29 lots in Lawrences’ Fine Art Sale this October, giving collectors and enthusiasts the opportunity to acquire individual pieces as well as explore the story of a lifetime spent collecting.
Lawrences Auctioneer Simon Jones said: “This is a fantastic collection, lovingly put together over a lifetime. It brought Margaret a huge amount of enjoyment and it’s now time for these items to find new homes.”
