A Bath-based educator and mum of three has launched a new weekly brain-building club to help children develop the thinking and problem-solving skills that matter both in and beyond the classroom.
Friday Brain Building Club (FBBC) was created by Joey James, a Cambridge graduate with an MA in Education and more than 15 years’ experience in education. Frustrated by the choice between traditional worksheets that can feel like extra homework and an ever-growing number of screen-based activities, Joey set out to create something different.
“As a teacher and a mum, I wanted to create something children would genuinely enjoy doing – something that gets them thinking hard without feeling like homework,” says Joey.
Designed for children aged 7–9 (Simple) and 9–11 (Stretch), FBBC delivers a printable sheet every Friday morning, combining activities to develop literacy, numeracy, verbal reasoning, deduction and logic. Knowledge and skills are deliberately revisited and connected over time, helping children retain what they learn while building curiosity, confidence and independent thinking.
