The New Sixth has allowed me to grow as a person in an environment where I am comfortable to always be myself.” – Lottie, Class of 2025

The New Sixth offers a unique sixth form experience shaped by Christian values and driven by a clear mission: educating the whole person and empowering every future. With an emphasis on personal support, academic challenge and a strong sense of community, every student is known, valued and inspired to thrive. Students leave as confident, ambitious young adults, equipped not just with qualifications but with the independence, resilience and moral purpose needed to make their mark on the world.

Whether progressing to university, an apprenticeship or the workplace, students are supported to discover their strengths and pursue ambitious futures with confidence.

Academic excellence: Students at The New Sixth benefit from expert teaching, a culture of high expectations and a learning environment where they are known, supported and encouraged to succeed. Outcomes are consistently strong, with students regularly exceeding their predicted grades and progressing to prestigious universities including Oxford, Cambridge and leading Russell Group institutions.

The support I received was incredible – not just academically, but in helping me understand what it would really take to become a veterinary surgeon.” – Aimee, Class of 2017, Veterinary Surgeon

Academic support extends equally to those pursuing alternative pathways. Whether a student’s future lies in higher-level apprenticeships, specialised training or direct employment, they receive the same level of personalised guidance to ensure they are equipped with the qualifications and skills their chosen path demands.

Students can apply for one of four prestigious scholarships recognising Academic Excellence, STEM Achievement, Performing Arts or the John Baptiste de La Salle Scholarship for Endeavour. Each scholarship includes a £150 award to support A Level studies or help students extend their horizons in their chosen field. As Sixth Form Ambassadors, scholars also play an active role in representing the school and inspiring younger students.

Students also benefit from an established programme of leadership opportunities, mentoring and enrichment that develops the confidence, character and transferable skills valued by universities and employers alike.

Pathways and opportunities: The New Sixth offers an ambitious curriculum of A Levels across a broad range of subjects. Alongside this, students access the Unifrog careers platform, targeted UCAS and apprenticeship guidance, and mentoring from staff who know them well.

A comprehensive enrichment programme allows students to develop leadership, enterprise and global awareness through opportunities such as student parliament, Lasallian international projects, debating, sports, volunteering and more.

Career and UCAS sessions helped me find future pathways that I am genuinely passionate about.” – Edgar, Class of 2023

Our aim is that every student leaves not only with excellent qualifications, but with the curiosity, resilience and sense of purpose to become a positive force in their communities and beyond.

Support and development: Pastoral care is central to the sixth form experience. Students benefit from a strong support network including daily tutor contact, dedicated pastoral leads, and structured wellbeing and careers programmes.

The New Sixth provides a vibrant, inclusive environment that bridges the gap between school and university life, offering greater independence alongside the encouragement and care that every student needs to thrive.

The 16–19 Bursary Fund is available to support students facing financial hardship while continuing their full-time education after Year 11.

Prospective students are warmly invited to attend our annual Sixth Form Open Evening and Discover The New Sixth Taster Day to experience our thriving sixth form community first-hand.
