Event Details

Dorothy House Hospice is delighted to be partnering with award winning garden designer Charlotte Sanderson on her successful ‘Pocket Garden’ entry into the Royal Horticultural Society’s inaugural show at the Badminton Estate, Gloucestershire. Running from 8-12 July, the garden entitled ‘Shared Breath’ highlights the collective reliance of all human beings on a finite, shared resource: oxygen. Its aim is to encourage meaningful conversations around death and end-of-life care and to raise awareness of the vital work carried out by the hospice charity, Dorothy House.

After the RHS show is complete, the garden will be moved to Dorothy House in Winsley and join existing community and therapeutic horticultural gardens, in a site where nature and wellbeing work in close harmony. It will form an important part of the landscaping that surrounds a new Bath Institute for Supportive Care; a pioneering centre dedicated to bereavement support, education and collaborative research. Supportive care; meeting the physical, emotional, psychological and social needs of patients and families, remains under-developed in the UK. This centre will transform access to specialist support, strengthen professional skills across the system and generate evidence to shape national practice.
