Bath MP Wera Hobhouse has visited Wealthtime, the award-winning Bath-based investment platform, to learn more about the company’s work helping people across the UK to invest and save, and its role as a long-standing local employer.
During her visit to Wealthtime’s Bath headquarters on 31 March, Ms Hobhouse met with senior leaders and employees to understand how the business supports financial advisers and their clients, and how investment platforms help people build long-term financial security.
The visit included a tour of the office and introductions to teams across the business, giving an overview of the range of roles involved in running the platform – from sales and marketing to customer support and product development. Ms Hobhouse also saw a demonstration of the platform in action, showing how it is used to manage investments and support clients.
Ms Hobhouse spent time speaking with employees, including those on Wealthtime’s Platform Associates programme – a rotational scheme designed to bring new talent into the industry. Wealthtime employees Elizabeth Venn, Callum Gillard, and Tom Richards shared their experiences of working in financial services and the opportunities the sector offers.
The visit concluded with a discussion with Wealthtime’s leadership team about the wider role of the investment platform sector in supporting savers, pensions, and investment into the UK economy, as well as how Government can support further growth.
Wealthtime manages £12 billion of investments for more than 77,000 UK clients. Based in Bath for nearly 20 years, the company employs 160 people locally and supports a further 200 regional jobs. Almost half of Wealthtime’s employees are women (43%) and 10% aged 18–25.
The wider UK investment platform industry manages around £936 billion for 3.2 million people, playing an important role in how individuals save and invest.
Toby Larkman, Managing Director at Wealthtime, said:
“We were very pleased to welcome Wera Hobhouse to our Bath office. It was a great opportunity to show how our platform works in practice and to highlight the role we play in helping advisers support their clients to invest and save. Wera Hobhouse, MP for Bath, said:
“It was a pleasure to visit Wealthtime, a long-standing Bath business that has been part of the local community for 20 years.
