Millfield is delighted to appoint Will Heywood as Head of Hockey.
Will joins the sporting powerhouse from independent school Brighton College, where he has been Director of Hockey since 2021, and was integral to a significant rise in performance including success in national competitions. Will, who attended Millfield as a student up until 2011, takes up the position in April and will be supported by Millfield’s six specialist hockey coaches, alongside a team of talented teacher-coaches.
Millfield’s Director of Sport, Irena Dzisiewska, said “We are delighted to welcome Will as our new Head of Hockey. He is extremely accomplished in school hockey with significant experience as a club coach and in the England Hockey Player Pathway; we can’t wait for Will to join the team. His warmth, compassion and leadership will draw together our hockey coaches and players, whilst continuing Millfield Hockey’s journey of brilliance.”
Will is well versed in the demands of life at Millfield, having attended the school from Year 9 to Upper Sixth in 2006-2011. He made an impact during his five years of school, taking on the role of Head Boy in his final year, as well as captaining the hockey and cricket teams. He went on to gain a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise and Sport Sciences from the University of Exeter and a Physical Education IPGCE from the University of Buckingham. Will remains a keen hockey player, currently representing Brighton and Hove Hockey Club in the National League East Conference.

I am excited to build on the strong foundations already in place and to support our talented players and staff in driving the programme forward.”
