Bath College launch free Life Academy

Bath College’s ‘Life Academy’ is part of their Adult Community Learning provision, which offers free courses to those out of work or on lower incomes. The courses in the Life Academy aims to equip people to take their next steps in life, whatever these may be.

The Life Academy is being launched this Spring and will give learners life skills and confidence, the latter being something the College is quite unique with helping to build and something that the Covid-19 pandemic has massively impacted on.

Learners will be able to get help taking strategic steps towards the career they want, whether they’re getting ready for going into the workplace for the first time, improving job prospects or looking for a new career.

The courses available range from skills for life which include problem-solving, team work, leadership, to skills for work which include English, maths, ICT, to practical skills which include cooking, budgeting healthy living to employability which include CV writing, business start-up, specific training.

Clive Bennett, Employability Skills Co-ordinator at Bath College said: “Bath College are aware that everyone’s journey is different. That’s why we’re launching Life Academy.

“Life Academy will enable adults living in and around Bath and North East Somerset to take more strategic steps towards the career they want. The size of those steps and the direction will be up to the learner.

“We’ll help people shape the next part of their journey with the aim of them graduating from Life Academy a whole lot closer to their goal.”
