Giotto: Founder of Modern Art, The Arts Society lecture, 6 October

Giotto, the first Italian master to achieve universal recognition in his own life time, initiated a new style of painting in the early 1300s which revolutionised art in western Europe. His work has a sense of drama through body language and facial expression, and clarity in terms of storytelling – so much so that his images are still easily readable 700 years on.

This lecture will be delivered in a hybrid format – you can attend via Zoom from your home and in person at the Widcombe Social Club.
