Students leave as confident, ambitious young adults, equipped not just with qualifications but with the independence, resilience and moral purpose needed to make their mark on the world.
Academic excellence: Students at The New Sixth benefit from expert teaching, a culture of high expectations and a learning environment where they are known, supported and encouraged to succeed. Outcomes are consistently strong, with students regularly exceeding their predicted grades and progressing to prestigious universities including Oxford, Cambridge and leading Russell Group institutions. Academic support extends equally to those pursuing alternative pathways. Whether a student’s future lies in higher-level apprenticeships, specialised training or direct employment, they receive the same level of personalised guidance to ensure they are equipped with the qualifications and skills their chosen path demands.
From 2026, students have the opportunity to apply for one of four prestigious scholarships for Academic Excellence, STEM Achievement, Performing Arts or John Baptiste de La Salle scholarship for endeavour. Each scholar will be awarded £150 to use towards their A Level studies or extending their horizons in their chosen areas of interest. Scholars will be a Sixth Form Ambassador at school and community events, acting as a positive role model for peers and younger students.
Pathways and opportunities: The New Sixth offers an ambitious curriculum of A Levels across a broad range of subjects. Alongside this, students access the Unifrog careers platform, targeted UCAS and apprenticeship guidance, and mentoring from staff who know them well. A comprehensive enrichment programme allows students to develop leadership, enterprise and global awareness through opportunities such as student parliament, Lasallian international projects, debating, sports, volunteering and more.
Support and development: Pastoral care is central to the sixth form experience. Students benefit from a strong support network including daily tutor contact, dedicated pastoral leads, and structured wellbeing and careers programmes. The New Sixth provides a vibrant, inclusive environment that bridges the gap between school and university life, offering greater independence alongside the encouragement and care that every student needs to thrive.
