The summer school holidays are approaching and stress at this time can sometimes be magnified when parents are struggling to co-parent.
- Try to avoid involving the children in your decision, whilst their voice is important they will not want to feel pressured to decide.
- Have discussions with each other in plenty of time. Share travel plans and if there is a wish to go abroad, ensure that consent, if needed, is given in time and arrangements are made to share the passport.
- Respect the children’s time with each of you, however recognise that they may well miss their other parent and want to speak to them.
- Think about whether there is a need to alter the term time plans or arrangements, have these conversations in a timely manner.
- Remember that this is the children’s break too.
