Max Ojomoh is in line for his first senior England cap and seven fellow students have been selected for the 2025 World Rugby U20 Championship ahead of a busy international summer for rugby players at the University of Bath.
Business student Ojomoh, fresh from playing a key role in Bath Rugby’s historic trophy treble, is among 10 uncapped players named by Steve Borthwick – himself a University of Bath Hall of Fame for Sport inductee – in England’s squad for the Summer Tour of Argentina and the United States.
Ojomoh, scorer of a decisive try in Bath’s Premiership Rugby Final win over Leicester Tigers, played for the University men’s 1st XV in BUCS Super Rugby during the 2021-22 season before progressing into the Bath Rugby senior ranks. He has previously represented his country at A, U20 and U18 level.
England face Argentina on 5th July and 12th July before travelling to Washington DC on 19th July to face the USA Men’s Eagles, whose squad includes alumnus Tom Pittman who played BUCS Super Rugby for Bath during the 2019-20 season.
Meanwhile, the World Rugby U20 Championship gets under way in Italy on Sunday 29th June and there will once again be plenty of University of Bath interest, particularly in the England squad which includes five current students.
Vilikesa Sela returns for his second World Championship and is joined by Tyler Offiah, Connor Treacey, Kepu Tuipulotu and Hudson Powell Sporting Scholar Aiden Ainsworth-Cave. Reigning champions England face Scotland in their opening fixture.
Host nation Italy include Enoch Opoku Gyamfi in their squad and Jack Woods is in the Wales ranks – they start their tournaments against New Zealand and Argentina respectively.
