Kingswood School Recognised as Best in Bath for A-Level Value-Added Performance

Recent data released by the Department for Education has shown that Kingswood students achieved higher value added score in their A-Level exams than any other school in Bath.

The findings are based on Kingswood’s 2024 A-level results, which represented an outstanding achievement for pupils, with over 81% of results at A*- B, half of all grades at A* or A, and a 100% pass rate.

Mr. Gordon-Brown, Principal of Kingswood School, commented: “Value-added (VA) performance scores are a powerful indicator of how much better Kingswood students perform in public exams, based on nationally benchmarked data. The scores tell us the extent to which the quality of teaching and learning is contributing to our students getting better exams grades than would be expected.”

“I was therefore delighted to see that, according to the recently published DfE A-level value-added statistics, Kingswood students achieved the highest value-added scores of any school in Bath, both independent and state. Congratulations are due to last year’s leavers, with much gratitude to our talented, dedicated and generous teachers who put on so much additional support. These statistics show just how much of a difference our teaching and academic intervention makes in supporting our students to reach their full potential.”

He added, “A Kingswood education goes beyond academic success – though these results clearly highlight our students’ achievements. Whether gaining higher education experience through our Advanced Electives programme, giving back to the local community through our partnership with charity Mentoring Plus, chairing a committee at the Kingswood Model United Nations, or leading your team as Captain of the 1st XV, a Kingwood education is truly one that ignites the potential of every young person.”
