The curriculum: Throughout our curriculum, there is an underlying appreciation that pupils succeed best when taught interesting and engaging lessons by enthusiastic, specialist staff. We want our pupils to leave here with valuable study skills, having found their intellectual and academic passion and having fulfilled their potential in that area. “KES remains at the top of the academic pops in Bath and beyond.” Good Schools Guide.

Co-curricular activities: King Edward’s School aims to provide a thriving and continuously evolving co-curricular programme by offering a broad range of opportunities for pupils. We expect engagement from pupils with our co-curricular programme, and our watchwords are breadth and opportunity. Activities include the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, Ten Tors Challenge, Esports, Model United Nations, Combined Cadet Force, sports, drama and music – the latter enjoying partnerships with Bath Abbey and Bath Philharmonia. “Pupils’ engagement with the broad and varied extra-curricular programme is outstanding.” ISI Report 2023.

Pastoral care: King Edward’s is a happy and successful school, with the social and emotional wellbeing of pupils central to all that we do. We get to know our pupils well and build open and trusting relationships so that the children who arrive in Year 7 can flourish in all areas of school life and develop into confident, thoughtful and engaging young adults. We value tolerance and kindness and work hard to develop resilience and independence.

Outstanding characteristics: Awarded ‘excellent’ in the most recent whole school ISI report, with the school’s extra-curricular provision achieving ‘outstanding’. The school has previously been awarded Independent School of the Year for Performing Arts by Independent School Parent. King Edward’s is ranked second among independent schools in the southwest for its outstanding A Level and GCSE results in the most recent The Sunday Times Schools Parent Power survey. “KES turns out young people who are not merely hard-working and well-educated, but compassionate and thoughtful to boot.” Good Schools Guide.
