A new fundraising campaign has launched by The Forever Friends Appeal, the hospital charity for the Royal United Hospitals Bath, to coincide with National Swallowing Awareness Day.
Swallowing Awareness Day falls on 18 March, during NHS Nutrition and Hydration Week (16-20 March). The Forever Friends Appeal are aiming to raise £50,000 to purchase a portable machine to enhance the care given to patients who have swallowing difficulties.
By funding this piece of kit it will enable speech and language therapists to provide an alternative bedside assessment – reducing the waiting time to attend the x-ray clinic which can sometimes be several weeks and is the only option at present.
Last year’s campaign reached 2.46 million people in more than 55 countries as they took to social media to share their activities with others.
Don’t forget to post your news and pictures on your social media channels this year, using the hashtag #swallowaware2020 and tagging @RCSLT.
