Seventeen events have been announced for The Bath Festival, which takes place from 11 to 28 May 2018.

Next year also marks the 70th anniversary of the first ever festival put on by Bath Festivals.

Early release literature events include: Rose Tremain, Adam Kay, Maggie O’Farrell, Roddy Doyle and John Julius Norwich.

And music events include: Ben Folds & A Piano, Royal Northern Sinfonia with Lars Vogt playing the complete Beethoven Piano Concertos, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Roderick Williams and Iain Burnside, Stephen Hough, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment.

The 2018 festival will be extended from 10 to 17 days, with more than 160 imaginative and innovative events taking place, and it will be made highly visible with an increased number of staged, outdoor events for all to enjoy.

The middle weekend (19 – 20 May) will be one of community engagement with collaborative events with partners, schools, venues and organisations across the city.

And Bath’s biggest celebration of free entertainment, known as Party in the City, will continue to expand and will take place on Friday 18 May.
