This September, artist Caroline Rudge is taking over the window of Willow and Gallery @ No 56 at 70 High Street, Corsham and filling it with her beautiful Lepidoptera prints.
Throughout 2024, Caroline has been embarking on a printmaking project to document 100 different species of butterflies and moths – from common ones seen in the garden, to giant exotic varieties, she has explored the breadth and diversity we see in these fascinating creatures. She uses discarded tetrapak cartons as her surface to draw into using a drypoint technique – each one is then cut out and hand-printed, with each print unique.
Also on display are Caroline’s ‘Ethical Entomology’ pieces, made up of reproduction prints on paper of her Lepidoptera paintings. These are cut out by hand, folded and pinned to mimic genuine entomology specimens, but without any creatures being harmed in the process.
Willow and Gallery @ No 56 are open Wednesday to Saturday 10am-5pm (or otherwise by appointment).
